A glimpse of our story
It all started on Sunday, January 31, 2022. New York was covered in snow, and we decided to meet over brunch in Manhattan. When Raphael texted Carol saying the subway wasn’t working because of the snow, and that he had decided to take an Uber, we realized that we lived just a few blocks from each other. In a very Raphael way, he said, “Send me your location; I’ll pick you up.” That is how we first met, in a car, wearing masks and big winter coats.
We both loved our first date so much that we decided to meet again on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of that same week. We could not get enough of each other. It became clear that we wanted to spend a lot more time together, maybe even forever…
Our first couple tradition started one month later when we escaped New York cold winter and went on a trip to Miami. We went to a nice dinner and told the restaurant it was our “5-year anniversary”. We got free champagne and a personalized menu written “For the Ruscassie Party”. From now on, we would never miss a chance to celebrate our future and past anniversary, multiple times a year, in all the restaurants we dine in.
Things felt natural very fast, and after a couple of months, Carol met Raphael’s family in France, and Raphael met Carol’s in Washington DC and Brazil.
We share the same values, of which the most important one is the absolute commitment we choose to pour into each other everyday. Today, we want to celebrate that commitment in front of the most beloved people in our lives.
